NFL Survivor Pool Week 2
The field just got smaller. Do not get greedy.
Week 2 is where survivor pools get real. Some of your group is already out, the ones still standing have one fewer team to choose from, and everybody has exactly one game of evidence to argue about. It is also the best week of the year to start a pool if you missed Week 1, because a Week 2 pool is a clean slate for everyone in it.
Here is the full 2026 Week 2 slate with kickoff times, how to think about your second pick whether you survived or not, and how to get a fresh pool running before Thursday, September 17 at 8:15 PM ET.

How to think about your Week 2 pick
Alive? Do not celebrate with your best team
Surviving Week 1 is the easy part; most of the pool did. The temptation in Week 2 is to reward yourself with the team you were saving. Resist it. You still need sixteen more winners, and the elite teams will have softer spots on their schedule in October and November when the field is thin and every remaining option is a coin flip. Find the safe-enough pick again.
Eliminated? Your season is not over
If your pool has mulligans, a Week 1 loss burned one and you are still in. If it does not, you are out of that pool, but not out of survivor. A new pool that starts in Week 2 gives everyone a clean slate: every team available, nobody ahead. Create one for the group chat or join a house pool before the first Week 2 kickoff and you are back in the game with no handicap.
One week of tape beats a summer of guessing
Week 1 gave you the first real information of the season, but only one game of it. A blowout can be a mismatch or a fluke; a close loss can hide a good team. Use Week 1 as a tiebreaker between picks you already liked, not as a reason to chase a surprise winner or panic on a favorite that stumbled.
Check what you already burned
Every team is one-time-use. If you took a team in Week 1 in one pool but not another, your options are already different pool to pool. Keep the lists straight. In Outpick, teams you have used are greyed out on the pick screen so you cannot pick them twice by accident, and each pool tracks its own list.
Short weeks and travel start to matter
Week 2 is the first week where rest is uneven. A team coming off a Thursday night game in Week 1 has had ten days; a team that played Monday night has had six. Long trips across time zones show up here too. None of it decides a game by itself, but stacked on top of home field and a settled quarterback, it is the kind of quiet edge that holds up.
Pencil in the next few weeks now
The best time to map the season is right after you see the first results. Look ahead at who plays weak opponents at home over the next month and spread your strongest teams across those weeks instead of using them back to back. Outpick Pro's season planner lets you pencil in a team for every remaining week, greys out anything you have used or already planned, and locks each plan in automatically at kickoff, so a set-and-forget season is possible.
See where the field went
Once a Week 2 game kicks off, the live picks page shows what share of Outpick players took each team, and once the game goes final, who survived. Nothing is revealed before kickoff, so nobody can copy the crowd, which is the same rule the app enforces inside every pool.
That page is the honest version of the "pick percentages" grids other sites put behind a paywall. No odds, no lines, just real picks from real pools.
Starting fresh in Week 2
A survivor pool can start from any week, and a pool that starts in Week 2 is not a consolation prize. Everyone in it has all 32 teams available, nobody has burned a pick, and the pool closes to new members at the first Week 2 kickoff so latecomers cannot join with an advantage. For a group chat that forgot to set something up before opening night, this is the week to do it.
In Outpick, a pool created after the Week 1 games start automatically begins in Week 2. Create it, set the mulligans (zero for strict survivor, one or two if your group wants a second life), and share the invite code. Picks lock at kickoff, results grade themselves, and standings update without a spreadsheet. If nobody wants the commissioner job, the free house pools are open to anyone until their first kickoff.
Already alive in a Week 1 pool? Nothing changes for you except the math: one team gone, seventeen weeks to go. Make the Week 2 pick before its kickoff and keep the elite teams in your pocket.
Missed Week 1? Week 2 is a clean slate.
