How to run the grid
Collect picks before kickoff, in secret
The commissioner gathers everyone's pick privately before each week's first game. If picks are visible early, players copy each other and the game flattens. This is the hardest part to do honestly on paper.
Fill the grid after kickoff
Once games start, write everyone's pick in their cell. Wins stay clean, losses get the strikethrough, and eliminated rows go quiet for the season.
Police the no-repeat rule
Check each new pick against that player's used teams. In a 20-person pool that is 360 potential checks across a season, which is exactly the job the checklist, and eventually your patience, exists for.

How do I track two lives or mulligans on a survivor grid?
Add a lives column next to each player's name. Write the number of lives the pool allows (one mulligan means two lives) and cross one off every time that player loses or misses a pick. When the last life is gone, strike the row. The PDF on this page has the lives column built in.
What if my pool has more than 24 players?
Print the grid page again and keep going; the rows are blank so two sheets cover 48 players and three cover 72. For a 40-person pool most commissioners switch to a spreadsheet or an app at that point, because the weekly repeat checks alone run into the hundreds.
